Martin is dual qualified as a Solicitor and as an Abogado. Originally from Ireland, Martin holds a LL.B. (Hons) and a LL.M. in Information Technology and Telecommunications.
Following the completion of his studies at University Strathclyde (Glasgow), Martin was appointed by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) as its first Legal Information Officer. The JISC is the UK agency charged with assisting Universities and Colleges on the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Martin was required to provide legal guidance on a wide range of aspects concerning the use of ICT in education including Intellectual Property, Data Protection, freedom of information, encryption and online defamation.
On his return to his native Ireland, Martin joined Landwell Solicitors (legal division of PwC-PricewaterhouseCoopers) in Dublin (Ireland). While with Landwell, Martin gained invaluable experience in a wide range of practice areas such as Sector Regulation, Commercial Litigation, Corporate & Commercial Law and Conveyancing. This role allowed Martin to build on previous general practice experience he acquired during his time with Oliver Shanley Solicitors in his home town of Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland.
During Martin’s time in Dublin he was auditor of Solicitors Apprentices Debating Society of Ireland (SADSI) and was a junior council member of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association.
Martin moved to Valencia in 2004 with his Spanish wife who is a native of the city. Building on his rich professional experience, Martin enjoys assisting international clients, both corporate and private individuals, with their affairs in Spain.
He has been included for a number of years in the lawyers list of the British Embassy of Spain and the lawyers list of the Irish Embassy of Spain. He is a member of the Valencian Bar (Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Valencia) and the Law Society of Ireland.
